New Chinese Language Courses at the University of Crete for the academic Year 2026–2027

For the second consecutive year, the University of Crete is offering Chinese Language courses, open to anyone interested in learning one of the world’s most widely spoken languages and exploring Chinese culture.

The courses are organized in collaboration with the Chinese Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) and will be offered at both university campuses, in Heraklion and Rethymno. Classes will begin on October 19, 2026.

Participation Fees

In accordance with the decision of the University of Crete Council, the participation fees for the Chinese Language courses, are as follows:

  • Free of charge for active undergraduate and graduate students, as well as PhD candidates of the University of Crete.
  • €50 per semester for the academic and administrative staff of the University of Crete.
  • €150 per semester for external participants and individuals who are not currently affiliated with the University of Crete.

Courses Offered

Fall Semester 2026–2027

  • PK1020 – Comprehensive Chinese I – for new participants joining the program during the academic year 2026–2027.
  • PK1031 – Comprehensive Chinese III – continuation for students who have successfully completed the previous level.

Spring Semester 2026–2027

  • PK1021 – Comprehensive Chinese II – continuation for students who will complete Level I.
  • PK1032 – Comprehensive Chinese IV – continuation of the previous course cycle for students already enrolled.

The courses will be taught in English by qualified instructors:

  • Ms. Gao Ying – Gallos Campus, Rethymno
  • Ms. Ding Yanyu – Voutes Campus, Heraklion

The detailed course schedule and timetable will be announced in late September–early October.
