Brief Biography

Eleni Sakellariou is Assistant Professor of Western Medieval History at the Department of History and Archaeology of the University of Crete since 2006. She was born in Athens in 1967. She studied History at the University of Athens, and Medieval History at the University of Cambridge (England), where she received her Ph.D. in 1996. In 1997- 1999, she worked as a temporary agent for the European Commission in Brussels. Between 1999 and 2006 she was a lecturer of European Medieval History at the Department of History and Archaeology of the University of Ioannina. She has published in Greek, English and Italian, on the demography, economy and institutions of Italy and Frankish Greece in the late Middle Ages.
