Curriculum vitae of Christos Hadziiosif
Christos Hadziiosif received his Ph. D. in History from the Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes – Paris IV in 1981. The subject of his thesis was “The Greek Community of Egypt in the 19th sentury”. From 1973 until 1975 he worked as a research assistant in the University of Heidelberg (Alfred-Weber Institut) . He has been working in the University of Crete since 1983. His research interests lie in the following subject areas:
- Economic and Social History of the Mediterranean and Greek region (18th – 19th centuries)
- Greek Shipping and Commerce
- History of Industry
- Political and Economic developments in the inter-war period, the German Occupation and the post-war period in Greece.
He taught as a visiting Professor in E.H.E.S.S. in E.N.S. in Paris as well as in the University of Wien. Christos Hadziiosif is the writer of the books: The Old Moon. The Industry in Greece, 1830-1940 (Themelio Ed., 1993), Synasos: The History of a Place without History (University Press of Crete), He is also the editor of the general(collective) history of Greece in the 20th cent., Vivliorama ed., Athens 1999, 2002,2003.
