Doctoral Studies

The Department of History and Archaeology of the University of Crete accepts applications for Ph.D. dissertations in History, Archaeology and Art History. Prospective Ph.D. candidates are advised to first contact a member of faculty of the Department. After they obtain a professor's consent to supervise the dissertation, they will be required to submit an application to the Assembly of the Department, accompanied by a CV and a detailed research proposal.

The Department has also signed an agreement with the Institute for Mediterranean Studies of the Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas (www.ims.forth.gr) for the joint supervision of Ph.D. dissertations by a member of faculty of the Department and a researcher of the Institute.

The minimum length of time for the completion of a Ph.D. dissertation is three calendar years.
